I am a writer and freelance copyeditor who started Electric Blue Edits as a way to combine the academic and creative poles of my career. I enjoy the precision and rigor of academic writing, and am passionate about the craft of telling stories well. I’ve used both sets of skills in my career as a qualitative researcher, dance and movement educator, and copy writer and editor. These experiences inform my edits, which are attuned to the intricacies of academic writing and the power of story to teach, to inform, and to entertain.

My goal in editing is to be a partner to the writers I serve, revealing ways in which their own voice and ideas can be made sharper and clearer. I believe that Joseph Kannon was correct when he wrote that an editor should be the “perfect appreciator,” and not another writer.
